Hull City Ladies will take to the pitch for one last time before the summer break tomorrow as they face German visitors FC Donop-Voßheide to celebrate Rebecca Beech’s Testimonial.
Having won the final game of the season 9-0 away at Morecambe and lifted the league trophy the Tigresses fans are encouraged to come down to Hull University tomorrow (12pm KO) to support the team one more time this season and to pay tribute to a legend of the club.
Rebecca Beech is a City Ladies stalwart who has scored 160 goals in 159 brilliant games for the club. She scored four impressive goals in the final game of the season to cap another fine season for the striker who has seen everything in the Women’s game and played at the highest level.
We hope to see many City Ladies fans and former players in attendance to support a player who has been a teammate and friend to so many over the years at City Ladies. With this in mind the club have drafted in a few of Beechy’s old teammates and a few new names for the game with Jasmine Lacey, Alice Stewart, Evie Barrett, Hope Barrett, Emma Lee, Lindsay Crofton, Ashley Ann Argento and Emily Smith all set to feature alongside the first team champions of this season. We have even heard manager Rachel Gay is set to put her playing boots on again for the occasion!
The opposition for the Testimonial game are FC Donop-Voßheide who have also brought their youth team with them and they will take on the City Ladies youth team (10am KO). The German side are also champions of their league this season which makes the game an even more exciting prospect.
The players and staff from FC Donop-Voßheide have enjoyed a tour of Hull University and the sports facilities today as well as a tour of Beverley as the town is twinned with Lemgo in Germany, the local town of FC Donop-Voßheide.
It’s set to be a great occasion to see an international game between two champion sides in honour of a City Ladies legend. We encourage as many of you as possible to come to Hull Uni to watch an entertaining game of football and to support Beechy. If you haven’t yet seen the impressive Tigresses this season, tomorrow is your final chance before the summer break!
If you are coming to the game tomorrow dont’ forget to pick up a copy of The Tigress the Hull City Ladies programme. This weeks issue is a special commemorative edition to mark Beechy’s testimonial. We have really enjoyed putting it together and will be selling the programme at the game for just £2. If you can’t make the game but would still like a copy it will be available from our online shop shortly after the game.
