Champions Elect? Campion v Hall Road Rangers Preview

Hall Road Rangers travel to Campion AFC tomorrow knowing a win will seal the NCEL First Division Title. Can they do it? We hope so! Here is the clubs preview of the game.

THREE points for Hall Road Rangers at Campion tomorrow afternoon will not only seal promotion, but will see the club clinch the NCEL First Division title.

With current leaders AFC Emley wrapping up their campaign with a 3-1 home win over Glasshoughton last weekend, Rangers destiny is in their own hands going into the final weekend of the season.

A win will see them leapfrog Emley and fend off the charge of third placed Pontefract Collieries, who themselves can still pip Emley to automatic promotion with a win of their own at Worsborough Bridge.

The club are therefore offering coach travel to supporters with a departure time of 11.30 from Haworth Park, with seats still available at £10 each.

Hall Road will make their first ever trip to Campion with a full squad. Jamie Coulson will return to Dave Ricardo’s side, whilst Sam Belcher appears to have shaken off a groin injury.

The two teams have just one previous meeting, that came earlier in the season, when Hall Road saw off their Bradford based opponents, 2-1 in November.

A first half Jamie Reeson goal and a Chris Spinks penalty put Rangers in a comfortable position in the first thirty minutes.

They saw the game out until an Eli Hey strike deep in added time at the end of the game proved a mere consolation.

40-goal striker Hey is expected to feature for Campion once more and no doubt will be keen to prove a nuisance for the consistent centre-back pairing of James Piercy and Ash Dexter.

Jason Davis is also a man in form having netted four times in his last two games.

With just one defeat in 2017 for Hall Road though they are focused on returning to the NCEL Premier Division for the first time since they were relegated in 2013.

A win will rubber stamp that, and vindicate all the hard-work at the club in the last two years since moving to Haworth Park which has ushered in a new era for the club.
