Robins add Dockar-Clay to the ranks.

Hull Kingston Rovers have announced the signing of Zach Dockar-Clay until the end of the 2018 season from NRL outfit, Penrith Panthers. The 21 year old ex junior kiwi captain is the great-grandson of Hull born Alec Dockar who starred over 250 times for the Robins between 1937-1953, is a useful hooker who can also play in the halves.

Coach Tim Sheens commenting on KR’s official website said of his latest accquistion “Zach is a talented young player who can play across a number of key positions” Dockar-Clay will add competition and depth to the spine of the red & whites.

Already in the country Dockar-Clay will meet up with his new teammates over the weekend and be fully integrated into the squad before the busy Easter period, giving Sheens some options when it comes to rotating his squad.

The young kiwi comes with a glowing endorsement from none other than Phil ‘Gus’ Gould, the ex captain, premier-winning coach & general manager of the Panthers and now a respected straight talking tv commentator, who said on Twitter “Zach is a great kid who will do very well in that comp” (English Championship) Gould went on to say “He’s very busy, competitive who makes a lot of line breaks and is a useful goal kicker”.

This latest addition coupled with the signing earlier this week of prop, Josh Johnson will certainly add even more quality to an already talented squad at coach Sheens disposal, as they enter a monstrous Easter period and beyond to the anticipated participation in the middle 8’s and hoped for return to Super League in 2018.
