Opinion: Next 2 games Win or Bust for City

I think its fair to say that this season has been a difficult one for Hull City, both on and off the field. With the introduction of a new membership scheme that angered so many coupled with a manager who wasn’t getting the results, the fans have had a lot to deal with this season. However, with the introduction of Marco Silva, there is a feel-good factor around the club again. A lot of fans, including myself, became very disillusioned with the club and the way it was being run, whereas now (although not perfect), the fans are slowly starting to get back on side.

The key question is though, will the returning fans be watching Premier League football next season? City find themselves 3 points from safety with 9 games left, so to say that the Tigers are doomed at this stage of the season would be inaccurate. HOWEVER, the next two games are absolutely crucial if City want to give themselves any chance of survival. Starting with West Ham at the KCOM on Saturday, followed by the visit of Middlesbrough on Wednesday. Two home games against a mid table side and a team also fighting for survival. City’s home form under Marco Silva is not bad, so both he and the fans will be looking for strong performances on their own turf. With City still having to visit the likes of Manchester City and Southampton, and Tottenham Hotspur yet to visit the KCOM, wins against the likes of West Ham and Middlesbrough will be absolutely vital.

What is guaranteed for sure though is that every one of the club’s fans need to get behind the team to get them over the line and to ensure that Premier League football remains in the City of Culture.
