City Ladies match abandoned due to leg break.

Hull City Ladies Womens Premier League Northern Division 1 match versus Crewe Alexandra Ladies at Hull University was abandoned today with only six minutes of stoppage time to be played.

The game was halted due to a serious injury (suspected broken leg) sustained by Crewe midfielder, Emma Lambourne. City Ladies were comfortable and cruising to a significant 3-0 victory when the unfortunate injury occurred. The win would have maintained City’s lead at the top of the division as they enter the business end of the season.

The game was played in wet, cold conditions which weren’t conducive to free flowing football and chances were few and far between. The sides only been separated at half time by an Ellie Harding goal late in the half.

After 61 minutes City doubled their lead with an absolute screamer of a goal from Katie Thompson, who’s unstoppable shot rocketed high into the top right hand corner, with the Crewe keeper a mere spectator. Only seven minutes later City looked to have put the game beyond the reach of Crewe, when with here first touch of the game Rebecca Beech produced a neat finish to slot the ball under Crewe keeper, Kara Townsend until the game ending injury occurred.

City Ladies must now await a decision from the FA to see if the result at the time of the injury stands or if they will have to replay the match.
