Thunder’s push for promotion

On Sunday, Hull Thunder VC’s National League men’s team play their second home triangular meeting of the season against newly formed Doncaster Miner VC and Manchester Marvels 2nd string side, looking to continue their fine run of form.

Thunder currently site third in the Division 3 North table 4 points ahead of 2nd bottom Doncaster and are only above Manchester due to superior sets difference. A double win on home soil would take Hull clear of the chasing pack in the league and cement their place amongst the top three vying for the end of season play offs but in this close competitive division no game can be taken for granted. Thunder are hoping for a decent crowd to cheer them on in this crucial fixture and we invite all readers to come down to Trinity House Academy in the city centre and cheers on the guys absolutely free of charge.

This week saw the club involved in two fixtures on a local and region front. Firstly on Sunday afternoon Hull Thundercats local league team beat a decent Holderness Raptors teams convincingly 3-0, this puts them comfortably in the middle of the HEYVA local league standings.
And Sunday evening saw Thunders Yorkshire Prem Men’s team travel away to Leeds VC. Hull took a strong squad to the Ruth Gorse Centre for a key top of the table clash. In a close hard fought game both teams matched each other all the way with both showed great attacking and defensive skills in a pulsating match. Eventually the hitting power of Hulls Frackiewicz and Kupka proving decisive in a 3-2 5th set victory which puts Thunder at the top of the YPL table. A special mention has to go to setter Daniel Foster who played the full game despite being incredibly ill and showed tremendous grit to put in a Man of the Match
